Organizing and Managing Remote TeamsApril 14, 2020, 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. Working Remotely with Geospatial Data and Mapping ProjectsApril 22, 2020, 10:00 a.m. via Zoom. This session will introduce participants to geospatial data from US and international sources, along with information on geospatial software access at Penn State including ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS ArcMap, and ArcGIS Pro. A highlight of online geospatial resources available to researchers and students will be included. Additional resources will be provided to help participants manage geospatial projects remotely. Zotero: Collect, Organize, Cite, and ShareApril 28, 2020, 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. Using Zotero to organize your research. Remote Options for Computation and StorageMay 5, 2020, 10:00 a.m. via Zoom. This session will discuss non-location-constrained options for computation and storage. Managing and Organizing Citations with MendeleyMay 12, 2020, 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. We'll go from start to finish with Mendeley -- citation management software that can help you organize your citations and maximize your research productivity. Active Data ManagementMay 19, 2020, 3:00 p.m. via Zoom This session will give an overview of best practices and tools for actively managing data. Statistical Software Choices: Get Your Data Analysis Done at HomeMay 20, 2020, 10:00 a.m. via Zoom. “What analytic tool should I use for my statistical data analysis?” This should be a question that you need to think about as early as when you are writing your project proposal. It is mainly because 1). Software cost, 2). Time to learn, 3) Capability of modeling, 4). Accessibility (last but not the least, especially during this all-remote time). This webinar will provide a brief overview of widely used statistical software packages, including SPSS, STATA, RStuido, Minitab, JMP, SAS and Mplus. Providing Access to Your Research Data via the Penn State Data CommonsMay 20, 2020, time and Zoom link TBA This session will discuss how researchers can share their data via the Data Commons. It will cover a brief intro to the Data Commons then provide guidance for sharing data. Choosing a Citation Manager: Which One Should I Use?May 26, 2020, 10:00 a.m. via Zoom. Endnote, Mendeley, Zotero... which citation manager is right for your research workflow? We'll discuss the benefits of each of these tools, and will share strategies to help you decide which tool to adopt for citation management. Public Cloud Services for ResearchersMay 26, 2020, 10:00 a.m. via Zoom This session will give an overview of available public cloud services and available consulting for Penn State researchers. (AWS, Azure and Google Cloud). ICDS Remote Research Computing ServicesJune 3, 2020, 10:00 a.m. via Zoom. This session will overview the services that ICDS provides to PSU researchers through our Advanced CyberInfrastructure (ACI). ICDS-ACI serves as the backbone of our traditional HPC system including our web based graphical portal access, our High Performance Research Cloud (HPRC), scientific gateways, and storage services. In addition, non-ACI services such as advanced technical consulting with the Research Innovations with Scientists and Engineers (RISE) team and access to XSEDE computational resources through our on staff Campus Champions will be discussed. This webinar will highlight how researchers can get started using our systems and services remotely and where to turn for additional resources and training. Data Analysis and Visualization with Tableau and Power BIJune 10, 2020, 3:00 p.m. via Zoom This session will introduce participants to data analysis and visualization tools, Tableau and Power BI, from loading data to analyze and visualize data plus free learning resources. |
