Description |
![]() The HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) study is a multi-site prospective longitudinal cohort study that examines the human brain, and cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional development beginning prenatally and through age 10. HBCD aims to determine the short- and long-term impacts of both harmful and protective factors on children’s development. The study collects data regarding the parents, the child’s environment, and a robust set of measures, including direct behavioral observation, MRI, EEG, biospecimens, and self-report. All data from HBCD will be freely available, beginning with the first data release in early 2025. By the end, HBCD is set to recruit over 7,200 families, beginning in pregnancy, from 25+ sites across the US. Penn State University Park and Penn State Hershey are among the included sites. The sample aims to be nationally representative while also being enriched for substance exposure in utero. This session will serve as an introduction to the cohort and its data, as well as the procedures for accessing the data. This presentation may also be of interest to individuals using the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, as there are overlaps in measures and constructs of interest. In addition, ABCD data releases will migrate to the same data platform as HBCD and will be subject to a new, single umbrella Data Use Contract (DUC) for both cohorts. A light lunch will be provided for in-person attendees. Register here. For Zoom access, go to https://psu.zoom.us/j/91795441127?pwd=C7fpEP0nVZd3Rm2Gh0UbaSJgbbFQx7.1 |
