Just last month, Parkland High School was the scene of one of the deadliest school shootings in the world. Now these Parkland students, as well as students all over the country, are uniting as advocates for change and marching in the March for Our Lives demonstration that is taking place in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, March 24th.
Inspired by their dedication for change, the National Prevention Science Coalition has organized a Congressional Briefing to discuss school shootings and other types of school violence to be held the day before the march, March 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Washington, D.C. Speakers will not only include members of congress, university professors, and experts, but student leaders will be sharing their perspectives and experiences as well. At the end of the briefing, everyone is invited to a reception where questions, discussions, and future planning with the speakers and other attendees can be continued.
Attendance for this event is free-of-charge and those who wish to attend may register here.
This event is sponsored by Penn State, the University of Southern California Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, the University of Florida, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and the PAXIS Institute.
