The Population Research Institute (PRI) and the Computational and Spatial Analysis (CSA) Core are launching a Troubleshooting Team to provide consultation to PRI associates to help address their data and/or computational challenges. This service is particularly aimed at PRI faculty and postdocs who are less familiar with the capacity and resources available at Penn State, or who are working with complex datasets, grappling with tricky methodological questions, or navigating challenging data compliance requirements. The PRI/CSA Troubleshooting Team is currently composed of PRI Director, CSA Director, CSA staff, and five faculty members with methodological expertise in longitudinal data analysis, spatial and big data analytics, qualitative and mixed methods, administrative data access and analysis, social network analysis, econometric causalities and experiments, and others.
To participate, please submit to us a “one-pager” in which you briefly describe the difficulties you are having. This will then be followed up with a troubleshooting meeting to discuss the problem and develop solutions. The Troubleshooting Team will provide suggestions, which hopefully will either completely solve the difficulties, or at least provide some directions for the researcher to further explore.
This service is currently available to PRI associates and postdocs only. The first troubleshooting session will be held in Spring 2024, in 605 Oswald in person (zoom will be available for those who are unable to come in person). To be scheduled for the first session, please send in your one-pager by December 31, 2023 to Dr. Guangqing Chi, CSA Director (gchi@psu.edu).
