The Social Science Research Institute’s Dr. Frances Keesler Graham Early Career Professorship provides supplemental funding to social and behavioral science faculty members in the interdisciplinary fields of psychological and brain science whose research is focused on relationships between the human brain and human behavior.
The award rotates every three years to a new recipient in the first 10 years of her or his academic career, providing seed money for innovative research projects.
Tenure track Penn State faculty members in the social and behavioral sciences at University Park and the College of Medicine who are within 10 years of having completed the Ph.D. at the start of the award period.
Applications should first be submitted for approval to the candidate’s Department Head and then to the College Dean. Each Dean may submit up to two proposals to ssri-seed-grant@psu.edu. The deadline for submissions to SSRI is September 9 at 5 p.m.
The professorship was created by Graham’s daughter, Mary Graham, as a way to honor her late mother, who began her career in social and behavioral sciences as a Penn State undergraduate.
More information on the professorship award, including the application process, can be found at SSRI’s professorship website.
