Kassidy McElwee will be joining Penn State’s Child Maltreatment Solutions Networkas project manager, effective June 20.
In this role, McElwee will be working with the Solutions Network's community-based research projects at the state level, assisting with grants and research related to child maltreatment, and working on events that share research and solutions to the challenges in the child maltreatment field.

Kassidy brings significant experience managing community-engaged and system-focused research initiatives and supporting multidisciplinary teams addressing complex topics that advance translation of research to practice,” said Christian Connell, Child Maltreatment Solutions Network director and associate professor of human development and family studies.
Previously, McElwee was a research data analyst at Penn State’s Center for Health Care and Policy Research. She managed research projects on kidney disease, diabetes prevention, health insurance cost and utilization, the Pennsylvania Opioid Settlement, COVID-19 in rural Pennsylvania counties, and others.
McElwee earned a bachelor’s degree in sciences from Mount Aloysius College and a master’s degree in public health from Penn State College of Medicine.
Established in 2012, the Child Maltreatment Solutions Network, part of the Social Science Research Institute, is a national leader in research designed to influence public policy that better protects vulnerable children from abuse.
