On April 12, at 12:30 p.m., the Child Maltreatment Solutions Network hosted their Pinwheel Planting in the HUB on the Penn State University Park campus.
Given that April is child abuse prevention month, this event served as part of the national “Pinwheels for Prevention” campaign that serves to demonstrate the Penn State community's prevention support.
The event allowed students and faculty to plant their pinwheels and offered t-shirts with the caption ‘Children need heroes. Be one!’, food and other giveaways highlighting child abuse prevention.
In addition to the symbolic act of planting pinwheels, informational pamphlets and sheets were provided at the booth, offering insights into the signs of child abuse and neglect, and strategies for prevention and intervention.
Established in 2012, the Child Maltreatment Solutions Network (CMSN) is part of the Social Science Research Institute at Penn State. For more information about the CMSN and their initiatives, please visit their website here.
