SSRI invites proposals for its seed funding mechanisms to provide research support for investigators from diverse fields in the social and behavioral sciences. SSRI funding opportunities also help support research collaborations across disciplinary boundaries, colleges, and research centers.
- SSRI Level 1 – The primary goal of this funding opportunity is to support Penn State social science faculty members in forming interdisciplinary research teams and carrying out scientific meetings.
- SSRI Level 1 – Working Group – This funding mechanism supports Penn State social science faculty in forming interdisciplinary research groups that will concentrate on exciting new research topics. These groups will host yearly meetings, seminars, or other gatherings, as well as other research activities.
- SSRI Level 2 – This funding opportunity supports teams of Penn State social science faculty to help with studies to support external grant applications and other impacts such as education, policy, implementation, dissemination, novel methods, etc.
- SSRI Level 4 – Interdisciplinary Research Initiative – This funding mechanism is focused on the forming new interdisciplinary research centers or center scale initiatives. Faculty collaborating across colleges and institutes to form a critical mass for developing major funding proposals in the next year or two are invited to apply.
All Penn State faculty members (tenured, tenure track, fixed term, and clinicians) who hold an appointment at any Penn State location are eligible to submit a seed grant proposal. The funding mechanisms will remain open until funding caps are reached.
