Involuntary Commitment Symposium

We invite you to join our hybrid symposium on “Involuntary commitment data: challenges and opportunities” on March 19, 2025, at Penn State in University Park, PA.

Our goal is to convene a working group of bioethicists, data scientists, mental health clinicians, and other relevant individuals to build capacity around this topic. The symposium will share successful approaches used by other states and specific Pennsylvania counties, suggest best practices for data transparency and for addressing barriers. We believe attendance will help stakeholders understand the scope of the issue and be a meaningful step towards justice for this patient population.

The symposium features a hybrid morning session with presentations by experts on involuntary commitment data and ethics in the Commonwealth. There will be a series of discussions in the afternoon for in-person attendees.
