About the Talk

Refugee resettlement has emerged as a critical global issue in recent years. This complex, multi-stage process presents several challenges, and we focus on two key aspects: refugee redistribution and refugee housing. We survey existing algorithms, models, and results that address these issues. Moreover, we discuss the gaps in current research and the practical challenges that must be overcome to deploy these models in real-world scenarios.

About the Speaker

Šimon Schierreich, a doctoral student in the Department of Theoretical Computer Science, Faculty of Information Technology, Czech Technical University in Prague. His research focuses on computational social choice, algorithmic game theory, and collective decision-making. In particular, he is interested in restrictions that make computationally hard problems related to these fields tractable. For the last six months, he has been visiting Penn State as a Fulbright Fellow.
