Biography
Nancy Luke is research scientist and former professor of sociology and demography at the Pennsylvania State University. Luke’s research focuses on gender, family, and health and well-being in international contexts, including gender dynamics within relationships, gender inequality in child health, and the influence of gender attitudes on health decision-making. Luke has designed and directed large-scale surveys, intervention studies, and qualitative research in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Ethiopia, India, Nepal, and Vietnam. In support of this research, Luke has received numerous grants from the National Institutes of Health. Luke's research appears in American Journal of Sociology, Demography, Population Studies, Population and Development Review, Social Forces, Journal of Marriage and Family, Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Journal of Development Economics, and Journal of Health and Social Behavior among other journals and edited volumes.
