This panel on active transportation will share scientific perspectives on promoting active transportation, health, and sustainability by intervening at multiple levels of influence. Panelists will translate evidence to indicate why active transportation, like walking and biking and public transit, should be realistic choices to get around and cities should be built to ensure active transportation is safe, easy, and affordable. Examples include making walking paths or parks safer at night by adding streetlights, ensuring accessible and convenient public transportation, making biking safer with dedicated bike lanes, etc. You won’t want to miss out on this incredible lineup of behavioral medicine experts speak on active transportation – sign up now! Celebrated every 10th of November, World Science Day for Peace and Development highlights the important role of science in society and the need to engage the public in debates on emerging scientific issues. The 2022 World Science Day theme is “Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development,” and behavioral medicine has much to offer on this topic! Active transportation research and policy work is one strong example. Member Registration Fee: $20 100% of our World Science Day webinar panel registration proceeds will go directly to the Science Communication Fund, which helps scientists communicate their work to the public using resources like our Sci Comm Toolkit.
