Glenn Firebaugh, Roy C. Buck Professor of American Institutions and professor of sociology and demography, received the 2018 American Sociological Association Methodology Section Paul F. Lazarsfeld Award. This award recognizes sociologist who have contributed to the field of sociological methodology. The award was founded in 1986 in honor of Paul F. Lazarsfeld.
Firebaugh is an elected member of the Sociological Research Association and studies three types of inequalities: income inequality, neighborhood inequality, and inequality in life expectancy. He has authored three books, Seven Rules for Social Research (2008), The New Geography of Global Inequality (2003) and Analyzing Repeated Surveys (1997) and is the former Editor of the American Sociological Review.
